Short Description:

Jerusalem, known for its rolling hills and immense beauty, is a city rich in history that has captivated people throughout the world for thousands of years. this intricately designed depicts a pastoral scene on the Jerusalem hills complete with bold colors and crafted with careful attention to detail.
Central to the celebration of the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah is the lighting of the Menorah, also known as the Hanukiah, on each of the eight nights of the holiday.  On each of these nights, families and friends gather together to light the Menorah in remembrance of the miracle of one night’s worth of oil lasting 8 days and nights in the Temple during the time of the Maccabees’ great defeat over Antiochus IV.  While nearly all Jewish families celebrate by kindling the lights of the Menorah, Menorahs differ greatly in size, shape, and design.

Israeli artist Dan Shamir has created an exquisitely designed Hanukkah Menorah through the technique of laser cutting.  By utilizing this technique, artists such as Shamir are able to more easily and precisely cut sheet metal in order to fashion items such as this Menorah.  On the base of Shamir’s Hanukiah is a flock of sheep grazing on the base of the bright green Jerusalem hills.  On the next level of the Menorah are the white porcelain holes, which will hold the Hanukah candles each night of the holiday.  Behind the holes are more colorfully painted sheep with beautifully patterned coats of hearts and curved lines.  Above these sheep are layers upon layers of the hills of Jerusalem with ornate fruit trees, expertly created through the laser cutting technique.

Shamir’s unique Sheep Grazing on Jerusalem Hills Menorah shows his artistic talents and ability to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary.  This item would be an excellent Judaica gift for a friend or a loved one to enhance their holiday experience.
